Creating an inclusive service environment starts with understanding the different circumstances and challenges faced by refugees, asylum-seekers, and stateless individuals. Refugees and Stateless Persons equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to serve individuals from these communities fairly, respectfully, and without bias.
The programme introduces the differences between refugee, asylum-seeker, and stateless status, helping participants develop a clearer understanding of the circumstances that may affect an individual’s access to documentation, services, and everyday opportunities.
Participants will also explore the Malaysian context and the role of UNHCR in supporting refugees and asylum-seekers. Through discussions, case studies, and real-world scenarios, participants will gain greater awareness of the challenges faced by these communities when accessing essential services.
The programme also focuses on practical, non-judgmental service etiquette. Participants will learn how to communicate respectfully, avoid assumptions and stereotypes, and respond appropriately when serving refugees and stateless individuals in workplace and customer service environments.
Designed for professionals across various sectors, this workshop blends engaging discussions, experiential learning, and real-world applications to promote fair, respectful, and inclusive service practices.
