Creating an inclusive workplace means ensuring that everyone can communicate, participate, and feel respected. Introduction to Sign Language for Workplace Inclusion provides participants with practical foundational knowledge of Malaysian Sign Language (BIM) to communicate more confidently with Deaf colleagues and customers.
The programme introduces participants to the basics of Malaysian Sign Language, including everyday greetings, numbers, common workplace phrases, and practical expressions. Participants will gain an understanding of how sign language can support more inclusive and accessible communication in workplace and customer service environments.
Through interactive activities, demonstrations, practice sessions, and workplace scenarios, participants will develop greater confidence in using basic signs and applying appropriate visual and non-verbal communication techniques when interacting with Deaf individuals.
Participants will also explore the role of interpreters and learn when and how to work effectively with a sign language interpreter. The programme encourages participants to understand communication preferences, demonstrate respect, and avoid common communication barriers when engaging with Deaf colleagues and customers.
