Building an inclusive society starts with awareness, understanding, and respect. Disability Awareness 101 provides participants with a strong foundation in understanding what disability means, how barriers can create challenges, and why disability inclusion matters in everyday interactions.
The programme focuses on helping participants understand disability from a social and inclusive perspective, recognising that physical, social, communication, and attitudinal barriers can often create greater challenges than the disability itself. Participants will explore key principles that support equal treatment and respectful engagement with persons with disabilities, also known as OKU.
Through discussions, practical activities, case studies, and real-world scenarios, participants will learn appropriate language, etiquette, and communication approaches when engaging with persons with disabilities. The programme encourages participants to move beyond assumptions and develop a more respectful and inclusive approach.
Participants will also be guided to identify opportunities for improvement in their own workplace and customer service interactions. By the end of the programme, participants will develop a personal action plan to apply disability-inclusive practices in their everyday service and workplace environments.
Designed for professionals across various sectors, this workshop blends engaging discussions, experiential learning, and real-world applications to build awareness, confidence, and practical skills for creating a more inclusive environment.
